Functional units of a Computer

The computer is a device that depends upon and operates the data or information. It can accept the input data, store the data, process it and output desired results.

There are three main functional units of a computer.

1st. Input Unit/Input Device

The device by which we provide information or instructions to the computer is called input devices. Input devices are keyboard, mouse, etc.

2nd. Central Processing Unit

The central processing unit is simply called the CPU. It is that unit that processes the input data.

3rd. Output Unit/ Output Device

The device which is used to get output data from the computer is called an output device. The examples are monitor, loudspeaker, etc.
